The newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address is stored so the newsletter can be sent to you. Nothing else is required, and the address is not sold, rented, or shared with anyone for marketing.
Subscriptions are handled by Hostinger Reach, the email service provided by this site’s host, which stores the address on our behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to t@imtrajan.com, and the address is removed.
Affiliate links
Some articles link to products on Amazon. These are affiliate links, which means that if you buy something after clicking one, this site may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what gets recommended: the hardware written about here is hardware actually in use.
Clicking an affiliate link takes you to Amazon, which sets its own cookies to record that the visit came from here. What Amazon does with that information is covered by Amazon’s own privacy notice, not this one.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which articles people read. It records things like the pages viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and what kind of device was used. It is used to understand what is worth writing more of, not to identify individuals.
Google Search Console is also connected, which reports which search terms lead people here. It does not identify individual visitors.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses them for analytics, as described above. If you leave a comment, WordPress may store your name and email in a cookie so you do not have to retype them. Amazon sets its own cookies if you follow an affiliate link.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works if you do.
Server logs
Like almost every website, the hosting provider keeps automatic logs of requests, including IP addresses. These are used for security and troubleshooting, and are kept only as long as the host retains them. Hosting and email for this site are provided by Hostinger.
Embedded content
Articles sometimes embed content from other sites, such as video. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website, and those sites may collect data about you under their own policies.
How long information is kept
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention period. Comments, if you leave one, are kept indefinitely so the conversation stays readable.
Your rights
You can ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email t@imtrajan.com and it will be handled. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
